Novelist and editor Peter De Vries (1910-1993) was editor of "Poetry"
magazine (1938-1944) before joining the staff of "The New Yorker" at the
insistence of James Thurber. On the staff of the magazine from 1944-1987),
De Vries wrote stories and touched up cartoon captions. Known for his
satiric wit, he also published a number of novels between 1940-1986. Fine
condition.
