SUSANNAH OF THE MOUNTIES MOVIE CAST: CO-SIGNED BY RANDOLPH SCOTT and MARGARET LOCKWOOD
The co-stars are shown together in this black and white publicity photograph for the 1939 film Susannah of the Mounties
Printed Photograph signed in Ink: "Best Wishes/ Margaret/ Lockwood" in red felt tip and "Randolph Scott", in black felt tip, b/w, 10x8. Publicity photograph for the 1939 film Susannah of the Mounties. In the film, which also starred Shirley Temple, Lockwood played Vicky Standing and Scott played Inspector Angus Montague. Randolph Scott (1903-1987) made his film debut in 1928's Sharp Shooters, the first of the many Westerns he would make over the course of his movie career. By the mid-1930s he was a romantic lead and co-star, and from 1950-1953 Scott was one of the top ten box office attractions. The virile, weathered Scott is best known for his cowboy roles. In the 1940s and 1950s he starred in 39 big-budget Westerns, including Virginia City (1940). His last film, Ride the High Country (1962), was one of his best. Indian-born British actress Margaret Lockwood (1916-1990) starred mostly in British films. Her vehicles included The Lady Vanishes (1938), The Stars Look Down (1939), The Wicked Lady (1945), and Cast a Dark Shadow (1955). Thereafter she focused on stage work, returning to movies as Cinderella's stepmother in The Slipper and the Rose (1976). Lightly creased. Slightly worn at edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
