The Most Happy Fella, written by the legendary Frank Loesser, opened October 11, 1979 at the Majestic Theatre. One of Broadway's most memorable musicals, The Most Happy Fella tells the hilarious and heartwarming story of an older man falling in love with a younger woman. Bass-baritone Giorgio Tozzi, (b. 1923) made his professional debut (as George Tozzi) on Broadway in The Rape of Lucretia in December 1948. He made his debut at La Scala in 1953, the year he became the Metropolitan Opera's leading bass-baritone (appearing in over 400 performances from 1953-1973). Tozzi, who was also a film and television actor (in dramatic as well as operatic roles), was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical (1980, The Most Happy Fella), received three Grammy Awards and was awarded a gold record for the sound track of South Pacific (Tozzi's singing was dubbed in for Rosanno Brazzi). Louisa Flaningam (b.1945) is an American stage and screen actress, most known for her performances in Play Me a Country Song (1982) and The Most Happy Fella (1979). She's also appeared in The Rock Rainbow (1978), The Clairvoyant (1982) and George Washington (1984). She's married to actor P.J. Benjamin. Jo Sullivan-Loesser is an American stage actress and artistic director, most known for her performances in Threepenny Opera (1955-1961), The Most Happy Fella (1956-1957), and Sleepy Hollow (1948). She also appeared in three documentaries, including Heart & Soul: The Life and Music of Frank Loesser, the story of her husband of ten years. She is the mother of actress Emily Loesser. Actor Richard Muenz (b.1948) is most known for his reoccurring role as Joe Novak on Ryan's Hope (1979-1980). He has appeared in over 15 movies, television shows and plays, including 42nd Street (2001-2005), High Society (1998) Nick & Nora (1991) and Law & Order (1998). Dennis Warning (b.1951) is an American actor who primarily worked on stage, performing in Baby (1983-1984), The Most Happy Fella (1979) and The Robber Bridegroom (1976-1977). He also appeared in the TV series Great Performances (1980) and The Pirates of Penzance (1980). Actress Adrienne Leonetti performed as Marie in The Most Happy Fella, and also appeared in Great Performances (1980) and All Night Long (1981). Sharon Daniels was cast as Rosabella in this play, and Franco Spoto played the role of Ciccio. Toned. Edges and corners lightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
