JANE WYMAN and JOHN PAYNE
The pair signs a black and white photograph of themselves dancing
Photograph signed: "Jane Wyman", and "John Payne", in black ink, b/w, 8x10 overall, image 6¾x7½. Pencil and ink notes on verso (unknown hand): "JW - Rec 8/9/58/JP - Signed 10-8-59". Actress JANE WYMAN (1917-2007, born Sarah Jane Fulks) was married to future U.S. President Ronald Reagan from 1940 to 1948, and was the mother of his children Michael and Maureen. Emerging as a major film star with The Lost Weekend (1945), she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for Johnny Belinda (1948), and was nominated for the Best Actress Oscar for The Yearling (1946), The Blue Veil (1951), and The Magnificent Obsession (1954). She hosted a twice Emmy-nominated dramatic anthology on TV, The Jane Wyman Show (1955-1958), and returned to the small screen as the ruthless Angela Channing on the series Falcon Crest(1981-1990). JOHN PAYNE (1912-1989) starred in film musicals of the late 1930s and early 1940s before switching to action roles, mostly in Westerns. He also starred in a TV Western: The Restless Gun (1957-1958). Payne was married first to actress Anne Shirley, and then to Gloria DeHaven. He is the father of actress Julie Payne. The photo itself merits further research. Lightly creased. Light spot (2½x1½) at lower edge of photo. Image slightly grainy. Otherwise, fine condition.
