Signature of the American-born Lieutenant who trained in Canada and was awarded the Military Cross for escaping from the enemy during WWI.
Signature: "Pat OBrien/Lieut/R.F.C.", 4x2¾ card. Lieutenant Patrick Alan O'Brien, who was originally from Illinois, trained in Canada with the RFC (No. 81 CTS, Camp Borden). Leaving Canada in 1917, he later served with the No. 66 Squad during WWI. Reported missing and a POW in August 1917, O'Brien escaped in December of that year. He was awarded the Military Cross for his escape. Slightly soiled at upper blank margin, stray ink marks to right of signature. Remnants of photo corners at upper left corner and lower right edge. Overall, fine condition.
