This legendary team won the 1941 World Series, defeating the Brooklyn Dodgers four games
to one, securing the Yankees' ninth championship. That season is most famously remembered
for Joe DiMaggio's record-setting 56-game hitting streak, a feat still unmatched in Major
League Baseball history. Managed by Joe McCarthy, one of the winningest managers of all
time, the team was stacked with talent:
Joe DiMaggio (1914-1999), the "Yankee Clipper", was the reigning AL MVP and one of the
greatest center fielders in history.
Phil Rizzuto (1917-2007), the rookie shortstop in 1941, would go on to a Hall of Fame career
and become a beloved Yankees broadcaster.
Lefty Gomez (1908-1989), a dominant pitcher in the 1930s, was winding down his career but
remained a fan favorite.
Bill Dickey (1907-1993), a respected catcher and mentor to Yogi Berra, was a consistent
All-Star and key part of the Yankees' dynasty.
Red Ruffing (1905-1986), a former Boston castoff turned Yankees ace, had a Hall of Fame
career revitalized under McCarthy.
Joe Gordon (1915-1978), the slick-fielding second baseman, also earned MVP honors in
1942 and was known for his powerful bat.
Spud Chandler (1907-1990), who would go on to win the AL MVP in 1943, was already
emerging as a key arm in the Yankees' rotation.
Tom Henrich (1913-2009), “Old Reliable,” was a clutch hitter and standout right fielder.
Frankie Crosetti (1910-2002), a key infielder and long-time team leader, played in nine
World Series and later became a Yankees coach for decades.
Atley Donald (1910-1992), a reliable right-hander, once held the American League rookie
record for consecutive wins.
Joe McCarthy (1887-1978), as manager, led the Yankees to seven World Series titles and is
widely regarded as one of the greatest managers in baseball history.
The 1941 season was not only the last full baseball season before America's entry into World
War II, but also a peak moment in Yankees lore-an era of legends, dynastic dominance, and
enduring baseball history. Fine condition. Framed to an overall size of 26x22¾.
