34x35½ buckskin, signed by an impressive collection of Western artists in the 1970s, triple matted and custom framed for display. Some of the artists have added drawings in a Native American theme. Many signers have strong connections with the State of Montana and the Blackfoot Nation. Original Art signed: Buckskin bearing nearly 100 signatures. An unknown artist has drawn a large teepee in the center of the buckskin. Many of the signers have embellished their autograph with Western-themed drawings (teepees, horse heads, cattle brands, etc.). Some have dated their signatures, with the range of dates extending from 1970 to 1977. Many of the signers have a close connection with the state of Montana. The signers include the following: OLAF WIEGHORST (1899-1988), born in Jutland, Denmark, is best known for his poignant portrayals of the American West. Wieghorst's paintings have sold for more than $450,000. and his signed Lithographs for up to $12,000. His most famous work, Native Madonna, was published as a lithograph in 1972. Sioux painter and sculptor EARL EDER (b. 1944) has been a key figure in contemporary Indian art since the 1960s. His works are included in the collections of many museums, and of the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Washington.

Olaf Wieghorst (1899-1988), is best known for his poignant paintings of the American West. His work graced calendars and illustrated magazines, and commanded good prices from art collectors. Many of his pieces are on display at the Olaf Wieghorst Museum in El Cajon, near San Diego. Wieghorst was a circus stunt rider in Denmark before emigrating to the US at age 19, and he appeared in two John Wayne movies.

Abraham Lincoln Life Mask copy by Leonard W. Volk. This mask measures 10 ½ high x 10 wide x 8 deep. American sculptor LEONARD VOLK (1828-1895), who studied in Rome with the help of Illinois political figure Stephen A. Douglas, opened a studio in Chicago in 1959. Closely observing Douglas and his rival, Abraham Lincoln, during their debates, he sculpted both men and did Lincoln's life mask and made casts of both of his hands. Volk's monument to Douglas stands in Chicago and statues of Douglas and Lincoln grace the state Capitol in Springfield, Illinois. The sculptor also did portrait busts of Lincoln and a number of other subjects, including Henry Clay. Fine Condition.

The sports cartoonists who championed “Dem Bums” Original Pencil, Ink and Watercolor inscribed and signed “For Joanne...with love and many thanks from Willard Mullin 1977”. 9x13 visible. Illustration depicts the famous "Brooklyn Bum" by sports artist Willard Mullin. Willard Mullin (1902 - 1978) was an American sports cartoonist. He is well-known for his creation of the "Brooklyn Bum", a representation of the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team, which was based on Emmett Kelly's "Weary Willie" hobo persona. He wrote cartoons for several publications including the New York World-Telegram and Sun. This piece comes directly from a family member whose mother was a friend of Mullin and lived in the same condominiums in Florida during the 1970's. As a birthday gift, a hand painted tie was given to Mullin, and in return he gave this illustration. This is one of the nicest depictions of the "Brooklyn Bum" by Willard Mullin. Fine condition. 1987 Lenny Dykstra personally owned, original artwork by LeRoy Neiman Original Artwork titled "Slugger" and signed "LeRoy Nieman '87" 17 x 23. This distinctive work from the most famous name in sports art was apparently either commissioned by or gifted to Dykstra by Neiman and captures "Nails" in the distinctive pinstriped uniform of that glorious World Championship era. The painting is titled "The Slugger" and autographed by Neiman in pencil at bottom right. LeRoy Neiman (1921-2012) is best known for his brilliantly colored, energetic illustrations. Based in New York City, he is recognized as the consummate sports artist of the 20th century. In 1972 he was named the official artist for the Olympic Games. He was designated the outstanding sports artist in America by the Amateur Athletic Union (1976) and was given the Olympic Artist of the Century Award in 1979, and Sport Artist of the Year Award in 2007. Len "Nails" Dykstra played outfield for the New York Mets from 1985 to 1989, participating in the World Championship. With the Philadelphia Phillies (1989-1996) he reached the World Series again, this time in a losing effort against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Original mechanical art for camera-ready set-up. "Dick Tracy" for Valentine's Day, Sunday, February 14, 1971. Tracy thinks he has cornered the Chameleon, one of the bizarre criminals created by Gould. In the "Crimestoppers Textbook" note at top right: "st. valentine's day massacre - seven gangsters gunned down in garage 42 years ago!" Chester Gould (1900-1985) introduced crime and violence into the comics with his creation of "Dick Tracy", the first non-humorous comic strip, which debuted in the "Detroit Mirror" on October 4, 1931. Gould drew the strip, which was praised for its realism, for 46 years, two months and 21 days before retiring on Christmas Day in 1977. Dick Tracy was a modern deductive investigator who cleverly for hunted clues, fingerprints and even footprints. Gould researched police and FBI manuals and gave true accounts of detection methods, making his character as well versed as possible.

[National School] of Medicine, I provide you with the following facts and details: I. - I never had a contract with the U.N.A. It was the Committee for the Centennial Observance in the school which started the painting job in the E.N.M. II. - For that job, I did not collect anything, I only received the expenses involved in it. III. - Since I did not execute it as a result of medical problems with my eyes (I was operated on by Dr. Rafael Silva), I returned the advance I had received for expenses in its entirety to Dr. Ignacio Chavez, with whom I dealt concerning the mural. Overall size of 9 ½ x 8 ¾. Not framed by the Gallery of History. Fine condition. Frederic Remington (1861-1909), a prolific Western artist, was chiefly known for his portrayals of the Old West, where he traveled extensively. His works, which usually depicted cowboys, Indians and horses, are notable for their authenticity of detail. Beginning in 1886, Remington produced more than 400 illustrations for the nation's ten leading periodicals, including "Century Magazine", in which Remington illustrated articles written by his friend, Theodore Roosevelt. Sent to Cuba in the 1890s by newspaper publisher William Randolph Hearst, who was actively promoting war with Spain, and returning in 1898 to cover the U.S. campaign against the Spanish, Remington was appalled by war's cruelty. However, he produced a memorable sculpture, The Bronco Buster, in tribute to Teddy Roosevelt's leadership of volunteer "Rough Riders" at the Battle of San Juan Hill.

Peter Max, born in Berlin in 1937, spent most of his first ten years in Shanghai, and then traveled the world with his parents before immigrating to the US in 1953. Already an award-winning graphic artist and designer, Max burst on the cultural scene in the 1960s, first with his "psychedelic art" and then with a new concept, "cosmic art." Max, who works in many mediums, has been the official artist for the Grammy Awards, the New Orleans Jazz Festival, the Woodstock Music Festival and 5 Super Bowls. He has decorated a Boeing 747, a Dale Earnhardt racecar, and 265 murals on the US border. He has designed popular US and UN stamps, painted five US Presidents, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Mikhail Gorbachev, and the Dalai Lama. He painted individual portraits of 356 firefighters who lost their lives heroically on 9/11, presenting these portraits to the families, and then at President Bush's request designed 356 more for the firefighters' memorial.
