Painter, sculptor, and author Charles Bragg (1931-2017) was a social satire artist. His art has been exhibited in museums and galleries, commissioned by Playboy, and documented in a PBS program. He won a Gold Medal from the National Society of Illustrators and an Award of Merit from the Art Directors Guild of New York. His publications include Charles Bragg on Medicine (1984), Charles Bragg: The Works! A Retrospective (1999), and Asylum Earth (2013). Fine condition. Framed to an overall size of 26¼ x 24¼.

Signed autograph letter to a biographer concerning photographic plates missing from his collection Autograph Letter signed: "Alfred Stieglitz", 2 pages, 8½x11, front and verso (hinged to show both sides). New York City, 1933 December 18. To his friend (and author) Grace E. Titus, who was working a book about the innovative photographer. In full, as written: "Every number of Camera Work was published complete when issued. The way it happens that Plates are missing is that frequently Camera Work came out of the Bindery with Plates to be inserted by me personally after binding. Some years ago many of the Insets were either destroyed or mislaid. Hence the impossibility of completing many issues at present I know of no way of acquiring missing plates except in keeping one's eyes open for numbers of Camera Work as they may appear in the market Absolutely complete sets of Camera Work are very, very rare & are priceless. No I have no reproductions either There are none The Plates in Camera Work for the major part are photo gravures made directly from original negatives & were made under my direction as were the prints. -So from a certain point of view many of the Plates might be looked upon as a species of originals".

Artist Proof lithograph of the work titled "Settling In". Artist Proof Lithograph signed: “AP”, "Norman Rockwell". 18 x 14¾ visible. Norman Rockwell (1894-1978) captured scenes from American life in his magazine covers and illustrations, often noted for their humorous and accurate depictions of 1940's and 1950's life. Rockwell's drawings, however, were skillfully executed with minute attention to detail and were so realistic that they usually resembled photographs rather than paintings. He painted over 300 covers for the "Saturday Evening Post" (1916-1965) after beginning his career at age 18 as an illustrator for "Boy's Life". In addition to his many works for the Post, Rockwell illustrated the "Boy Scout Calendar" from 1926-1976. Rockwell published his autobiography, Norman Rockwell, My Adventures as an Illustrator, in 1960. Fine condition. Framed to an overall size of 28¾ x 25½.

The artist signs an image of his plaster statue depicting his lover, Camille Claudel. Postcard Photograph signed: "Rodin". Sepia, 4 x 5½ overall, image 4 x 4¾ (one surface). This signed image of Rodin's plaster statue of his lover, Camille Claudel, is titled: L'Adieu (The Farewell) (1892). His young protégé suffered a mental breakdown in 1898 and was later hospitalized. Rodin's classic realism in sculpture was generally devoted to the sensuality of the human body seen in such works as The Thinker (1880) and The Kiss (1886). Fine condition. Framed to an overall size of 23 x 16¼. Frame exhibits wearing at corners.

1812 indenture renting land in Philadelphia owned by Mary Penn, signed by the prolific Peale family member as a witness. Extremely rare signature from the artist! Indenture signed "Rubens Peale" as a witness. Also signed by Mary Penn through her attorney "Thos. Cadwalader" in lower right corner. 2 pages, 21½x14¼ (front and verso). Aug. 1, 1812. This indenture rents an 11-acre-and-100-perches lot of land in Philadelphia to John Craige for eight silver dollars a year. In return, Craige had to erect a brick or stone house on the property worth at least $1,333.34 within two years. American artist Rubens Peale (1784-1865) was one of the children of artist-naturalist Charles Willson Peale. Born with poor eyesight, Peale wouldn't follow his siblings into an art career until much later in life. He became manager and then administrative proprietor of the Peale family's museum of art and science in Philadelphia and began his own museum in New York City in 1825. It was after his retirement from museum directing that Peale began painting, using still life painting as an extension of his interest in natural history. However, his painting career was short lived as he passed 10 years later in 1865, leaving most of his artwork and paintings extremely rare.

Original Max portrait of Theodore Herzl Original Art Signed: "Max". Mixed medium on canvas, 1997, catalogue #36574. Signed at center left. 20x16 visible. Titled "Portrait of Theodore Herzl Ver.II #9". Fine condition. Peter Max, born in Berlin in 1937, spent most of his first ten years in Shanghai, and then traveled the world with his parents before immigrating to the US in 1953. Already an award-winning graphic artist and designer, Max burst on the cultural scene in the 1960s, first with his "psychedelic art" and then with a new concept, "cosmic art." Max, who works in many mediums, has been the official artist for the Grammy Awards, the New Orleans Jazz Festival, the Woodstock Music Festival and 5 Super Bowls. He has decorated a Boeing 747, a Dale Earnhardt racecar, and 265 murals on the US border. He has designed popular US and UN stamps, painted five US Presidents, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Mikhail Gorbachev, and the Dalai Lama. He painted individual portraits of 356 firefighters who lost their lives heroically on 9/11, presenting these portraits to the families, and then at President Bush's request designed 356 more for the firefighters' memorial. In 1896.

Pierre Auguste Renoir (1841-1919), a leader among the Impressionists, is best known for his landscapes and paintings of figures and flowers. Renoir, who also enjoyed painting his children, also painted Claude, the youngest of his three sons (born in 1901 when the artist was 60), at his easel (1907) and dressed in a clown costume (1909). Dry mounted. Edges slightly soiled. Mounting remnants on verso (no show through). Overall, fine condition. Mounted by unknown individual. Not reviewed by us for conservation integrity. The Fauvist Leader Signs a 1948 Autograph Note Sent From His Home In Vence. Autograph Letter signed: "H. Matisse". 1 page, 6x9, Vence, December 21, 1948. Translated in full: "Dear Mr. Goldschmit / Will you please give to Mr. Gerard Matisse one of the volumes of the Larousse for which I have subscribed. I beg you to accept the expression of my distinguished sentiments." Matisse wrote this note in December 1948 from his villa in Vence on the Riviera, to request that Gerard Matisse be presented with a "Laroussse". The Pierre Larousse volumes, to which he refers, were a reprint of one of his major works. French painter, sculptor, and printmaker Henri Matisse (1869-1954), who was influenced by post-Impressionism, revolted against Pointillism, and became a leader of the Fauvist school, although his later work moved in other directions. He was a master in the use of form and color to convey emotion. A lifelong friend and rival of Pablo Picasso, Matisse shared many similarities with his contemporary. However, he differed from Picasso in that Matisse usually painted from nature. Horizontal crease at center, otherwise fine condition. Framed to an overall size of 31 x 21¾.

The painter sketches images of his eight-year-old daughter “dressing up” in a bustle and comments on his art and that of his son Lucien. Autograph Letter signed: "C. Pissarro", 1 page (front and verso), 10x8 which folds to 5x8. Pissarro writes from his home in Eragny to his niece in England of family matters and of his art. Specifically, he thanks her for sending his children clothing and draws two humorous sketches of Cocotte, his eight-year-old daughter, wearing a bustle from a front and side view. He also writes of the completion of his drawings created in the town of Rouen, a favorite locale of impressionist artists. His son Lucien was in Paris at the time of this letter, and he helped his father prepare for art shows from there. Pissarro states that he is forwarding his drawings from Rouen as well as an etching done by Lucien. Like a proud father, he continues to talk about Lucien's work specifically on a children's book which was giving the boy trouble when it came to drawing the animals and father jokes of the final product: "...it will be ready in 2 or 3 days.…"

1987 Lenny Dykstra personally owned, original artwork by LeRoy Neiman Original Artwork titled "Slugger" and signed "LeRoy Nieman '87" 17 x 23. This distinctive work from the most famous name in sports art was apparently either commissioned by or gifted to Dykstra by Neiman and captures "Nails" in the distinctive pinstriped uniform of that glorious World Championship era. The painting is titled "The Slugger" and autographed by Neiman in pencil at bottom right.  LeRoy Neiman (1921-2012) is best known for his brilliantly colored, energetic illustrations. Based in New York City, he is recognized as the consummate sports artist of the 20th century. In 1972 he was named the official artist for the Olympic Games. He was designated the outstanding sports artist in America by the Amateur Athletic Union (1976) and was given the Olympic Artist of the Century Award in 1979, and Sport Artist of the Year Award in 2007. Len "Nails" Dykstra played outfield for the New York Mets from 1985 to 1989, participating in the World Championship. With the Philadelphia Phillies (1989-1996) he reached the World Series again, this time in a losing effort against the Toronto Blue Jays.

. Extremely rare Partly Printed DS: "Frank Lloyd Wright Architect", 1p, 5½x8½. No date, no place. An application for information to be published in a directory. Headed: "Business or Professional Record". In the upper portion, which asks for "data to enable the editor to do complete justice to your business or professional record", Wright has written, in full: "Work characterized as 'New School of Middle West' in America -- Abroad, as the architecture of the 'Prairie Dimension' -- the only truly American expression in the art of Architecture. Many foreign publications of distinction publish the work and European architects manifest increasing interest in it." Wright has also written "None" twice in columns asking for information on being an officer or director of a corporation and the office or position occupied. At the bottom of the form is a line that reads "Please enclose your business card or other printed matter in order that spelling of names may be verified." Beneath it, Wright has added "(Never had one!)".
